Project Background

The Emeroo renewable facility is a 40MW BESS (battery energy storage system) located in Emeroo, South Australia. The system is grid connected and used to import/export power from the grid which is operated by ElectraNet.

The OGP Solution

OGP Group was engaged by Fluence to perform the following:

  • Modelling the entire facility using ETAP software
  • Producing short circuit and insulation coordination electrical studies to determine equipment ratings
  • Design of the 33kV HV protection system including specification of protective schemes and nomination of settings
  • Producing load flow studies to determine nodal voltages and maximum ampacity
  • Producing cable dimensioning study to specify all 33kV cables
  • Design of the HV earth grid

The Outcome

OGP worked closely with both the EPC Contractor (Fluence) and end client ENEL to produce these deliverables which enabled early procurement of plant long lead items, to meet project schedule.
