Project Background

In the course of routine maintenance and cleaning, AGIG engaged OGP Group to carry out a pigging (or inspection) process on the transmission pipelines installed throughout the Yarra Ranges and South Gippsland regions.

Client:

AGIG

Location:

Victoria

OGP's Role:

Engineering Services

The OGP Solution

OGP developed a detailed design for a new pig trap, which was set to be fabricated and installed by Multinet Gas’s subcontractor.

The scope of the project included:

  • Design of two pig traps (a launcher and a receiver).
  • Design of the interconnecting pipes for the pig trap and associated pipelines.
  • Preparing as-built drawings.

The Outcome

To facilitate utilization of pig traps in various site locations, OGP determined that the process could be streamlined by designing a portable, dual-purpose pig trap capable of functioning as both a launcher and a receiver. This design enabled Multinet Gas to setup and transport the pig trap efficiently, ensuring smooth performance and execution of the five annual inspections required for the transmission pipelines.
