Project Background

The Yuri PV/BESS/H2 upgrade project is situated near the existing Yara Fertiliser Plant in Pilbara, WA. In collaboration with SEPCOIII, OGP Group was invited as the design partner for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) tender. This project involved an 18MW Solar PV facility, a 4MWh/8MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and a 10MW H2 production facility.

The OGP Solution

Our in-house engineering and project delivery team played significant role in contributing to the Yuri project upgrade. This included:

  • Developing Mechanical/Electrical/Control system concept designs for the facility, comprising of the 18MW solar PV plant, 4MWh/8MW BESS, and 10MW H2 production plant, along with fin fan coolers.
  • Optimising the H2 production model to enhance financial outcomes.
  • Evaluating tenders from equipment suppliers for electrical, control system, and mechanical equipment.
  • Developing comprehensive cost estimates and schedules for construction and commissioning activities.
  • Producing tender deliverables, including design drawings, basis of design documentation, HSE plans, and project execution plans.

    The Outcome

    OGP was one of the two preferred bidders in the competitive tender process. Our comprehensive engineering and project management solutions, from design to optimisation to tender evaluation, played a pivotal role. This outcome reflects OGP's commitment to innovation and excellence in the fields of renewable energy and critical infrastructure development.
